Filipino girls relax during the cooler evenings
One of the reasons for me to live here in the Philippines is the weather. I suppose in some ways it was more an aversion to the northern European weather, especially with its cold and bone-chilling rain in the winter, rather than a compulsion to be somewhere hot and sunny. Now that I live here, I don’t really think much about the weather. I certainly don’t have to make the decisions about what clothes to wear depending on the weather conditions. I find that wearing shorts or long pants with a t-shirt is all that I need. It rains here, but it’s always warm rain that can be refreshing unless it’s torrential. It gets hot here, but not crazily hot like the middle-east in summer, so you can walk around during the day without fear of collapse.
With regard to any seasonal variations, there’s very little change. It tends to be a little cooler overall during December, January and February, but it’s not very noticeable. I still find that wearing just a t-shirt is fine during those months, even at night.
I live in Davao city on Mindanao Island and I’ll be more specific about temperatures here. In my experience, the daytime maximum temperature is rarely below 30 degrees centigrade and rarely above 34 degrees centigrade. The nighttime minimum is rarely below 22 degrees centigrade and rarely above 26 degrees centigrade.
The current weather conditions in Davao city, Mactan (Cebu) and Manila are displayed here on this webpage, so you’ll always be able to check the weather here at any time.
